Lisa Sulka and I go back before she was mayor and I was a stylist….a very long time! Through the years I have had the pleasure of making her more beautiful for several occasions. I have never had the opportunity to cut and/or color her hair. I see her in Bluffton and in pictures and felt she needed a change. I found out Lisa hates change. I was a bit obnoxious, bugging her to change it up and get a new do. She has an unbelievably hectic schedule, so needless to say it took a long time to convince her to change and then coordinate her schedule. She was actually supposed to be my New Year, New Do! Oh well, better late than never, we did it!
I had to take baby steps. Her hair was too ashy and too dark with too many white highlights. I felt it aged her. She was receptive to me lightening her dark hair to a medium neutral brown. No red! Then I wanted to make her white highlights a bit creamier, less grey looking. It really came out beautiful. It’s so hard to see the big difference this made with these pictures. Trust me. She was all happy. Made me happy. I have to admit I was nervous because she was so nervous.
As for the cut, the biggest change was the bangs. She had some shorter pieces but they didn’t really have a function. I gave her more so they would lay better on her forehead. Again, I didn’t want her to freak out. We talked about the final outcome before I touched her hair, but still, scary. I can make it shorter, blonder, darker etc. I can’t make it longer.I took off about an inch or so. The length dragged her down a bit. I blended her bangs with some softness around her face.
I feel she looked younger, more up to date. She was thrilled!! Thank goodness.
Till next time……
